If required, I also put together multi-lingual interpreting teams that consist of qualified colleagues whom I personally know and have worked with.
Furthermore, I will take care of conference technology such as interpreting booths or tour-guide-systems. Organising conferences, conventions and meetings can often be very stressful.
Therefore, leave language-specific planning to an expert and save valuable time!

Choosing the right translator/ interpreter is not easy

Translating or interpreting is not only about finding the right word in the target language. Sentences have to be analysed, cultural differences have to be identified and the message has to be adapted to the target group. Merely knowing two languages is therefore not sufficient. A broad general knowledge, expertise in a particular subject area and thorough knowledge of the source and target language culture as well as the use of special techniques and strategies are of great importance.

Choosing the right translator/ interpreter is not easy as there are many service providers. This partly stems from the fact that this profession is not protected and many semi-qualified people, who speak two languages, offer their services. From my experience as a teacher on the MA Conference Interpreting and my own time as a university student I know how important interpreting studies are.

Why you should directly work with a translator/ interpreter and save money as well as time:

• You don’t pay a commission – which you pay when working with agencies
• You choose the translator/ interpreter yourself and therefore know that s/he is qualified and experienced
• You directly work together with the translator/ interpreter which means that s/he can prepare thoroughly and no information gets lost through multiple communication channels
• You work together with an expert who knows the business best and can offer you the best solution for your business

Services

”Interpreters enable successful communication in a multilingual setting. Interpreting is a highly challenging profession which has to be acquired at a University or specialised institute. Regular practise, a comprehensive general knowledge and a thorough preparation of the topic and terminology of an event is significant.”

I can help you with seamless communication at all kinds of events, such as business meetings, conferences, conventions, congresses, doctor’s appointments, police interview, court cases etc.

Simultandolmetscher

Simultaneous Interpreter

Simultaneous interpreters transfer a verbal output from one language into another language in real time (simultaneous). This mode is time-saving and ideal for large and multi-lingual groups. Simultaneous interpreters mainly work in sound-proof booths. Tour-guide-systems can be used at certain events.

Variation: Whispered Interpreting

Whispered interpreting, also called Chuchotage, is a different type of simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter sits close to a maximum of two delegates and whispers the speech into their language without using any equipment.

Konsekutivdolmetscher

Consecutive Interpreter

The interpreter usually sits or stands next to the speaker and takes notes using a special note-taking technique. After the speaker has delivered her/his speech or a part of it, the interpreter transfers it into the target language. The advantage of consecutive interpreting is that a large audience can be addressed without the use of equipment, such as a sound-proof booth. However, it is more time-consuming.

Variation Liaison Interpreters

Liaison interpreters transfer shorter parts of a verbal output, sometimes only interpret sentence by sentence. Therefore, no notes or only a few notes are taken. It is used for meetings with fewer participants who want to have a conversation, e.g. at a business meeting.

Gerichts- und Behördendolmetscher

Court and Public Service Interpreters

Court and public service interpreters are publicly appointed and sworn interpreters who have to fulfil stringent criteria in order to be eligible to work in this field. They work for courts, the police, notaries and other public authorities.
Impartiality, neutrality and secrecy are of top priority. Court and public service interpreters have to be aware of their sole role as language mediators at all times and are not allowed to give advice or take sides.
Court and public service interpreting entails many challenges. In addition to all the other imperative qualities that an interpreter should have, an expertise in the legal language and system is of great importance. In contrast to conference interpreting, where an idiomatic interpretation is desired, it is significant to interpret verbatim. The omission or addition of information – except in cases where an explanation is necessary due to cultural differences – can have far-reaching consequences.
Interpreting booths or equipment are not required in court and public service interpreting as the consecutive and whispered interpreting modes are applied.

Übersetzer

Translator

As a competent and qualified translator, I do not only make sure that I find the equivalent of a word in the other language, but also give great importance to making the translated text sound natural so that the readers don’t get the impression of having a translated text in front of them. To achieve this, I use my knowledge about the source and target culture, analyse the target readers, consult parallel texts in the target language and familiarise myself with the topic. I connect my passion for linguistics with attention to detail while translating a text in order to create a flawless translation.
In addition to a comprehensive general and specialised knowledge in different subject areas, I also have strategies for researching and preparing difficult technical terminology. Furthermore, I use a special programme for terminology management as well as CAT-tools which make sure that coherent texts with consistent terminology are produced and keep the original layout of the source text.
I follow a stringent quality assurance system that consists of several phases. After a thorough preparation, I first translate the text. Competent translators, who also are native speakers, proofread the text (dual-control-principle). Afterwards, corrections are made if necessary and a final check is performed after which final touches are made.
